How to create a soundex code by hand: The soundex code does not include vowels, only consonants. The first letter of the surname is recorded, then the next consonant, and the next, and the next are added. If there is no third consonant, then you use 0 in its place: 1: b p f v 2: c s k g j q x z 3: d t 4: l 5: m n 6: r Some of my own examples are: Gilliam: G450 Christie: C623 Entzmingle: E532 Brown: B650 Sztulman: S345 or S234 Yeheskel: Y224 Egerberg: E261 Berg: B062 (babs@funhouse.com)
