How to create a soundex code by hand:


The soundex code does not include vowels, only consonants.  The first letter 
of the surname is recorded, then the next consonant, and the next, and the 
next are added.  If there is no third consonant, then you use 0 in its place:


1:  b  p  f  v				
2:  c  s  k  g  j  q  x  z		
3:  d  t				
4:  l					
5:  m  n				
6:  r
